Synopsis
Entretien avec Yoko Ogawa réalisé à Tokyo le 15 mai 2008. « Quand je commence à écrire un roman, moi-même en tant qu’auteure, j’avance sans savoir vers où je marche. Écrire en le sachant est inintéressant. En écrivant une phrase, je tourne à l’angle d’une rue et je découvre un nouveau paysage. En répétant cette opération, quand je termine l’écriture, je me retourne et je vois le chemin que j’ai tracé pour arriver jusqu’ici. J’écris toujours de cette manière. »
“To me – as an author – beginning to write a novel feels like stepping forward without knowing where I’m going. There’s
no point in writing when you know where you’re going. Writing a new sentence is like turning round the corner of a street
or discovering a new landscape. By doing it over and over, when I’ve finished writing, I turn around and see the whole
path I have trampled to reach this point. This is how I always write.”
